Be Careful on which BMW Floor Mats You Choose

There are reports coming out that Floor Mats are getting stuck on accelerators and causing the gas pedal to get stuck and then the inability of the driver to stop the vehicle and either causing an accident with injuries or worse, with a fatality. You can overcome this threat with a few simple steps and ensuring your BMW Floor Mats are safe during the operation of your BMW.

First, ensure that your floor mats are made for your car. If you drive a BMW, make sure your floor mats where made for the model and year of your car. If you drive another car make, make sure that the floor mats are made for that particular car. While some cars have screws to hold the mats in place, other cars don’t. I know that in my older 1991 BMW 318i car, you just put the mats in place and that’s where they stayed. While I never experienced uncontrolled acceleration of my car, I know that there were numerous times in which I pulled back on the floor mats to get it off of the accelerator. These were all weather floor mats with the grooves and can understand how my getting into and out of my car would cause the floor mats to shift.

Once you have the correct floor mats, ensure that the floor mats are properly seated and installed. For instance, on my 2003 BMW car, the floor mats have little screw points to make sure the mats don’t move around. When you are entering or exiting the car, the floor mats could potentially shift causing the floor mat to move up against the accelerator to get “stuck” in a depressed position. While this occurs, your engine may rev higher or the car won’t want to stop. Incorrectly installed floor mats may put you into this position which is not one you may want to find yourself in.

Another potential way to ensure that your BMW Floor Mats don’t get bunched up or pushed against the accelerator is to make sure that the bottom of the floor mat has an anti slip feature or, will not slip easily when pressure is applied onto them as is the case when you get into and out of your car.

Something to watch out with your floor mats is to make sure that if they are long and reach your brake and gas pedals is to make sure that the clearance between the top of the mat and the bottom of the pedals is sufficient so that if your floor mats does get pushed up, the floor mat will merely slide under the pedals instead of push on the pedals and cause a dangerous situation.

A simple method to keep the floor mat off of the car pedals is just remove the mat. Now granted, this does defeat the purpose of floor mats, mainly to keep the floor clean and ensure damage is limited to the floor of your car, but also to keep the debris you track into your car localized instead of rolling around the floor of your car.

If you drive a manual transmission vehicle, you could just depress the clutch so that there is no power being put towards your wheels and therefore allow you to regain control of your car. If your car is an automatic, then you could shift the car into Neutral again, although you may potentially cause damage to your transmission. While damage to your transmission could potentially be expensive, it would probably be cheaper than the alternative which is a ride to a hospital or loss of life for yourself, passengers, other drivers, or pedestrians.

As a general rule though, you should be familiar with how your car is operated. A potential fault with uncontrolled acceleration is the push button starters on cars these days, which BMW does offer on their newer car models. Make sure that you know how to turn off the engine. Some manufacturers require that you depress and hold the button down to ensure that the engine shuts off.

While some evidence points to the potential that this could be only affecting newer cars, be aware that regardless, if you have a BMW 325i, a BMW E30, BMW E36, BMW E90, or any body model or feature of BMW, it could affect you. For your sake, and everyone else on the road, make sure that a potentially easy fix does not cause heartache for people.

In summary, make sure that you have floor mats designed and manufactured for your car so that they don’t cause problems for you when you are driving your car. Also, make sure that you are familiar with the operation of your car and that you know how to get the car out of gear or how to shutoff the engine with the new push button starters. Make sure that you mats will properly fit and are properly installed, to include any devices designed to hold the floor mats in place. Make sure that your floor mats are designed for your BMW, or appropriate make and model, and any devices designed to hold the BMW Floor Mats in place are engaged.

BMW 325i Floor Mats

BMW 325i’s have been produced since the E30 body model back in 1985 and are still being produced all the way through the E46 325i, E90 325i, E91 325i, E92 325i, and finally the E93 325i series body styles.

Now of course, if you have a newer body style, you may not need new BMW 325i floor mats, but you may be wanting to upgrade or change out your current floor mat style or color. This is of course a personal preference for you. You may also be looking for some OEM BMW Floor Mats, in which case you can also purchase those here.

Like I have mentioned before as well, you can get them many different kind of materials and colors from many different manufacturers. Of course, floor mats on cars are a relatively inexpensive item to upgrade your vehicle with. Each material and color also has it’s pluses and minus. If you purchase the cloth floor mats, you can take your shoes off while your driving if you have a long commute and let your feet relax a bit like I sometimes do. Maybe I’m odd like that, but it’s my car so, who cares.

If you own an older BMW 325i like from the E30 or E46 body styles, which are still cooler than hell in my opinion, you may have purchased your car without any floor mats and are looking to protect the interior of your car. That’s all well and dandy as well.

There are many places you can make your purchases, online and offline, but if you are looking to purchase right now, the links just to the right of this post has links to my Amazon store of BMW Floor Mats of course. It may not appear to be like an Amazon site, but you can rest assured it is. If you like, you can also just right click on the frame and choose to open the window in yet another window. This will take you to my Amazon store of BMW Floor Mats for your perusal. Go ahead, just give it a try, it won't hurt, I promise.

(Disclaimer: Yes, I make a commission off any purchases you make from Amazon if you click on my links to the right side of this website.)

BMW Floor Mats from Husky

Husky floor mats for BMW's are a good alternative to replace your current BMW floor mats.

Husky floor mats are custom fitted for the vehicle they are being designed to be installed in. They fit so well that you would be hard pressed to find better fitting floor mats for your BMW.

BMW floor mats are designed to protect the floor of your car. You can either go with the floor mats that are included with the BMW you purchase, or purchase new Husky floor mats from a trusted retailer.

Something cool that Husky does with their floor mats is place a unique gripping system on the bottom fo the floor mats. This protects your BMW floor because if yourself or a passenger gets into your car, we all know that the floor mat can move around on the floor of your car. This gripping system allows you to get into and out of your BMW with confidence knowing that the mat won't or shouldn't move around due to the pressure you place on it by stepping on it and using it to either get into or out of your car.

Husky floor mats also are designed with grooves to keep water and debris away from your feet. These grooves allow the water or other material to move away from your feet and therefore provide the protection you require of your BMW.

Another thing about Husky floor mats for your BMW are the fact that Husky is an American company producing these products here in the good ole US of A. Help keep American jobs in America, BMW make their cars here in the US as well, so you are indeed providing jobs for Americans with your purchase of the car as well as the aftermarket floor mats from Husky.

Husky warranties their floor mats for life to give you the peace of mind that if your mats stop doing what they were designed to do, protect the floor of your BMW, then you can get warranty service on your floor mats.

There are of course draw backs, and the only thing I can think of is that it may make the floor of your car look a little odd with this floor mat in your car versus a carpetted floor mat. If you drive a BMW SUV though like a BMW x5 or BMW x3, these mats may actually be exactly what you need to protectyour BMW x3 or BMW x5 if you are actually taking the SUV off roading and out into nature. If you don't though, you may want to look at available BMW x3 or BMW x5 floor mats that may better fit the lifestyle that you live.

In the end, you are looking to protect your car purchase and keep it looking good for a long time. One way of doing this is by purchasing Husky floot mats to replace your BMW floor mats and extending the look and life of your car.

BMW 325 Floor Mats

The Bimmer 325 series cars first showed up on car show floors with the E30 series of body styles in 1984 or 1985. They were an inline six cylinder engine with four doors. They obviously came with all of your standard accessories to include OEM BMW floor mats.

If your car is that old or you purchase a vehicle that is old, which with these cars are entirely possible, the floor mats may have deteriorated to the point that they no long provide the protection they were intended to provide, or simply the purchase did not come with floor mats. There are many different options for floor mats these days from BMW fitted floor mats all the way to just generic floor mats. You could also get cloth type of floor mats versus rubber mats. These preferences are up to you to decide, but the cloth type of mats are more difficult to clean if you bring in dirt and grime that is not easy to clean up once it has dried out.

You can also get floor mats that have the BMW logo on it or not, this is all personal preference really. I can’t speak on other body styles, but on the E46 body style, the floor mats have a plastic screw in option to keep the floor mats in place versus on the E30 style, the floor mats just laid in place.

The floor mats for the back seat passengers are just as important as the front seat floor mats although the front seat mats will probably receive more wear and tear and may need to be replaced sooner. The mats that are currently in there may no longer be produced so you may decide to purchase all four mats every time you need to replace the front seat mats. In fact, most floor mats are sold in sets of four.

Floor mats provide protection to your interior flooring, but also provide moisture protection to your floor so that it does not rust out. You could potentially have your seat fall through the cabin to the ground. Not a good situation to find yourself in and the potential is high if you purchased an older BMW 325.

For those of us that live in the northern portion of the country with inclimate weather, the snow, rain, and mud provide plenty of opportunities for water to get onto the floor of the cabin and potentially cause problems.

Now if you have a E30, E36, E46, E90, E91, E92, or E93 BMW 325 body style, you want to protect your BMW 325 cabin floor with floor mats that will fit or are made for the BMW you drive. You can go with the cheap BMW floor mats, or you can spend a couple more bucks to ensure you get the protection your BMW 325 deserves.

BMW Z4 Floor Mats

Because BMW Z4’s are relatively new, you may or may not have a need to replace or purchase BMW Z4 floor mats for your car. If however, you do, you may need to purchase floor mats to protect the interior floor of your car.

Due to the nature of this vehicle being all sporty and I’m only assuming that it does not handle very well in inclimate weather, you may or may not have a big water problem to protect your cabin floor from. The floor however is subject to whatever you may be walking on or stepping on. For this reason, you should have a highly durable floor mat to protect your cabin floor, and to boot, you only really need two floor mats because these vehicles are really only two person vehicles.

With the money you spent to purchase this vehicle, you would want to protect your car from the wear and tear of your shoes resting on the floor. Again, it is a personal preference if you want rubber or cloth floor mats and even if you want any sort of emblem on the mat. Of course, I think the BMW logo floor mats looks classy, but that’s just the way I am. You could be totally different.

The BMW Z4 is only starting the second generation recently announced by BMW. The first generation of the BMW Z4 is referenced with the E85 body style with the new generation being called the E89. The first gen was manufactured from 2002-2008. The E89 is being manufactured from the 2009 model year until BMW decides to update again which could be in approximately five or so years.

Feel free to surf and find the BMW Z4 floor mats that fit your need and like and buy it. You do of course own a BMW for a reason and you want it to look nice.

OEM BMW Floor Mats

Regardless of the model of BMW that you own, you can purchase OEM BMW Floor Mats from BMW directly at a local dealership in or near your home, or you can purchase them over the internet.

Being as I am a frugal person and I like to save money, I will shop around, and purchase using the best price. I have not priced out the cost of the floor mats directly from BMW or a local dealership, so I cannot comment on the pricing, however, the convenience of the internet allows online retailers to deliver the OEM BMW Floor Mats directly to your house.

Now you will probably want to purchase the OEM BMW floor mats from a reputable retailer if your wanting the convenience and savings. Reputable retailers are reputable because they stand behind the product they sell and therefore are able to generate a lot of sales and therefore move lots of product and in place, can offer lower prices, unless of course they are greedy.

You can purchase the OEM BMW Floor Mats from a retailer that specializes in auto parts and accessories, or from a large retailer that will stock items which are not even remotely related to cars in any way.

BMW All Weather Floor Mats

Some floor mats are advertised as BMW All Weather Floor Mats because their claim for the product is that the floor mats can be used in dry as well as wet and dirty environments. The benefit to this is if you live in a area where there is definite seasonal changes, then these types of floor mats will work great to product the floor of your car cabin.

The floor mats can come in plastic, rubber, or cloth. There are benefits to each type and the type of abuse they can handle.

Plastic are the cheapest and can handle all kinds of weather or material they can provide protection for. Plastic floor mats also are relatively easy to clean and they are cheaper than rubber or cloth floor mats. Their durability however is questionable because the plastic does not do well with the abuse you and your passengers feet will put on them. I would classify these floor mats as all weather because of the types of debris and environment they can withstand, but probably not for a very long time.

Rubber floor mats can also handle all kinds of weather or material and provide the protection against those things. They are also relatively easy to clean, but they are more expensive than the plastic floor mats and probably about the same in pricing with cloth floor mats. Rubber floor mats are more durable than plastic floor mats and can potentially look good on the floor of your car. The rubber floor mats however, because they are built to be more durable, can be a little rough on soft or malleable shoes or bare feet if no foot protection is worn, or shoes. These floor mats are also all weather because of the debris and environment that can place on top of them.

The plastic and rubber floor mats however may be more prone to being slick when using them to get into and out of the car. By using, I mean that you are placing your weight and depending on the friction to prevent your foot from sliding when getting into and out of your car.

The cloth floor mats are the nicest looking floor mats and provide the protection you are looking for. They are however harder to keep clean because the stuff on the sole of your shoe can transfer onto the floor mat and make it that much harder to clean. You can use a vacuum to clean up most messes. Stickier or more persistent stains may require shampooing or some other type of cleaning material to get the mats clean. For this reason, you may want to go with rubber or plastic mats if your environment is not the cleanest more often than not.

The durability of cloth floor mats depends on the quality of the floor mat. Obviously, cheaply manufactured floor mats will not stand up to the rigors of being a floor mat, but if you spend a couple dollars more and purchase a quality cloth floor mat, your BMW cloth floor mats can provide a long period of cabin floor protection.

With cloth floor mats, you can also get them either mass produced with a specific logo, or even get them specially made to your liking. Many BMW floor mats will have the BMW logo or the letters BMW imprinted into them which gives your car a classy interior.

In the end, if you decide to go with plastic, rubber, or cloth BMW All Weather Floor Mats, it is up to you and buy what you like. I would just look at purchasing floor mats that are going to provide quality protection while at the same time looking good on the floor.

BMW x5 Floor Mats

The BMW x5 Floor Mats should provide the protection for the lifestyle you live because by purchasing a BMW x5, I'm assuming you like the outdoors and are not afraid of taking your SUV off road.

If you've seen some of the vehicles that come from off roading, you know that they were usually in some serious mud. If any occupants had to exit the vehicle and then reenter the car, that person will probably also track in the mud and you need floor mats which will provide the protection that is need to protect the floor of your SUV.

You may also use your BMW x5 to haul a trailer or a caravan. If you haul a caravan, you may be looking for
caravan accessories.

Like I mention in the All Weather BMW Floor Mats post, there are three kinds of floor mats: plastic, rubber, and cloth. While all of those materials will provide protection for your car cabin floor, they are not all as easy to clean.

With the plastic and rubber floor mats, it would be easy to just remove the floor mats carefully, shake off the mud and rinse the mat, and then let the floor mat dry. The cloth floor mats however, may require more to effectively clean the mat up. However, the mud will probably dry up and make the cleaning effort on the cloth floor mats go along a bit easier.

A surface cleaning however is probably the minimum amount of cleaning your going to do. You may want to clean them up with a little bit of soap and water to ensure that you get an extended period of life out of the floor mats.

Obviously, mud is not the only thing that would cause harm or dirt to get onto your floor mats, but that is only one example. If you were to get oil or tar onto the floor mats, which with construction on the road and around us, is not entirely out of the question, the cloth floor mats may prove to be a difficult item to clean.

In the end though, you need to get floor mats that provide the protection that you need for the lifestyle that you live to ensure continued durability of the cabin floor to prevent any maintenance issues either now, or into the future. BMW x5 Floor Mats made specifically for your vehicle is the way to go to ensure proper fit and protection.

BMW Floor Mats

BMW Floor Mats and all floor mats for that matter provide protection to the floor of your car cabin. If provides protection from dirt, water, ice, snow, and anything else that can be dragged into the car by hitching a ride on your feet, on snow, or because the wind blew it in.

The way to protect your BMW cabin floor is by placing floor mats on the floor. This serves two purposes really; first, it provides protection from the elements and the stuff that comes into your car from the bottom of your feet and shoes, second, it provides the protection from the wear and tear of your feet moving around on the floor of your car cabin and with you and your passengers getting into and out of the car. I mean, it's not like we float into and out of the car in the seated position. We use our feet on the car floor to provide the stability to push ourselves out of the car or when we are entering the car.

By protecting the floor of the car, we are preventing moisture and anything else from getting onto the floor of the car. While most stuff will just make the floor dirty, plenty of water over a long period of time can also rust out immediately or quickly, but years of abuse can do it and now you place the integrity of the car into jeopardy. I've read on the internet that on some older vehicles, the seats have fallen onto the ground with the driver in the seat. Now granted, I did read it on the internet, but it seems plausible, but only on really, really old cars who's floors were not protected sufficiently with a floor mat.

I mention water, but if you live in a northern climate zone, you may also get snow during the winter months. When you first enter the car, you may get snow on the car floor. You start driving to your destination and then put the heat on. The snow will melt and become water and now you've got water sitting on the cabin floor of your car. As the water sits, it could be starting the long process of rusting out the floor of your car.

This can be eliminated or the damage can be slowed with a cheap floor mat, relative to the car purchase price of course, by putting in some floor mats to protect your car. I am of the opinion that it is a cheap price to pay to help protect and maintain the car's integrity.

With all of the potential damage that could occur because you don't have any BMW Floor Mats, you do damage to the floor of the car. Well what happens to the value of your car if there is visible wear and tear. Paying a small amount of money for floor mats to protect the value of your car is a small price to pay in my opinion.

In the end, your paying a pretty good sum of money to purchase your BMW and you want to protect it with floor mats. Add some class and get some BMW Floor Mats.
